Reimers has developed a new tank and control system to receive boiler blowoff. The design is safer and less cost to install than a traditional vented tank system. The concept is being reviewed by the USPTO for patentability. Horizontal and vertical options in various capacities are available to mate with Reimers boilers as well as other boiler brands. The quiet and contained operation allows safer operator interaction and lower cost to install and maintain. The blowdown tanks are very economical and simple to operate. There is no steam or hot water release to the area or vent outside. The tanks can be purchased on skids preassembled or separate for adaptation to existing boiler rooms. All tanks are ASME constructed and fitted with safety relief. The National Board recognizes the Reimers design on Page 5 of NB-27.
NB-27 states "Closed blowoff vessels are permissible provided they are constructed in accordance with Section VIII, Div. 1 of the ASME Code for a MAWP at least equal to the MAWP of the boiler to which they are connected."
